Wildlife
Look out for...

  • The Big Five! Elephants, rhinos, buffalos, lions and leopards can all be spotted in the magnificent Tsavo West National Park.
Responsible travel

Severin Safari Camp has developed a programme to protect the park’s fragile ecosystem. The camp is dedicated to ecological tourism and encourages all guests to join a short environmental conservation tour during their visit.

Fresh water is brought into camp directly from the local Mzima Springs by pipeline and the water is heated using solar energy and heat recovery from the power generators. Severin Safari Camp is the pioneer in possessing a waste water treatment plant which cleans all of the camp’s waste water.

The camp’s General Manager, Mr. Severin Schulte founded the ‘Skills for Kenya’ foundation which helps young Kenyans receive the training and education they need to give them to have an improved chance of finding work. Extra attention is given to disadvantaged children, particularly orphans, who lack the financial resources for education.

testimonials

"During our safari we had a one-night stay at Severin Safari Camp. We have been overwhelmed by the affectionate reception at the camp and the friendly service. Your staff is simply adorable! Especially Manja – the camp manager – was all ears for our questions and wishes. Our personal highlight was gathering at the campfire in the evening. We will definitely return, but next time we’ll stay longer!"
Heinrich, Frankfurt

"Our safari to Severin Safari Camp remains unforgettable! A big herd of buffaloes passed nearby the camp during dinner time. The other day, we viewed some antelopes and zebras from the beautiful swimming pool of Kenbali Spa! And finally at night, there was a giraffe grazing right before our tent. You definitely cannot be closer to nature! Thanks for this memorable experience."
Marlies, Osnabrück

"We have had wonderful days at Severin Safari Camp. We liked the change between exciting safari experiences and total relaxation at the pool of Kenbali Spa. This camp is a very special place in Kenya and we would love to return. You can feel it’s run with passion and the staff really makes you feel at home."
Sebastian, Innsbruck

"We spent our honeymoon at Severin Safari Camp in March 2013 and it exceeded all our expectations. It’s got what you need for a first-class safari camp: infinite silence, excellent service and spectacular views even from the restaurant during the meals. In the evening during dinner, we watched some zebras, antelopes and later on even 2 hyenas which came down to the waterhole in front of the camps’ restaurant. The camp’s kitchen is brilliant and everyone gets his money’s worth there."
Tim and Johanna, Trier
